Antidote Shortages

DIGIFAB® SHORTAGE

The Ontario Poison Centre has been advised through Innomar Strategies/BTG Pharmaceuticals that there currently is no supply of DigiFAB® from the manufacturer.  It is expected that supply will become available again at the end of February 2025.  

To our knowledge, there is no official extension of expiry dates of available stock at this time.  

The Ontario Poison Centre recommends that hospitals keep expired stock to be used if necessary. A direct consult to your Poison Centre regarding any particular patient with acute or chronic digoxin toxicity will help the bedside clinician make a decision about expired DigiFAB® treatment.
Urgent borrowing of product from surrounding hospitals may be necessary. Prior arrangements to do this should be considered.
